Owls Earn Scholastic Art Awards

Eight Owls earned a total of 10 Mid-South Scholastic Art Awards across three categories in the 2026 competition, highlighted by two Gold Awards. See their work HERE.
Banks Boals ’30 received a Gold Award for his self-portrait in the Drawing category. Will Tom ’30 also earned Gold for his “Day of the Dead” drawing and added a Silver Award for his self-portrait.

Brady Ehrhart ’26 won a Silver Award for his photograph “We the People,” while Joseph Zhao ’28 earned Silver for his mixed media work “Memory of Regret.” Zhao also received an Honorable Mention in Mixed Media for “Gnawing Away.”

Additional Honorable Mentions went to McClain Bell ’31 for “Luchador Mask” (Drawing), Peilin Liu ’31 for a self-portrait (Drawing), Will Galbreath ’30 for a self-portrait (Drawing), and Boyd Blackney ’29 for his photograph “Proud Mother.”

Regional award winners are eligible for scholarships, cash prizes, and inclusion in an exhibition at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. Selected works will also advance to national judging in New York City.
