Laurea Bubonis Scholars Honored
Nine Class of 2026 Latin V students participated in Laurea Bubonis, a capstone project in which they explore and apply their knowledge of the classical world.
“The Laurea Bubonis program offers the boys a chance to synthesize their Latin experiences in a meaningful way while preparing them for the types of projects they would present in a college seminar setting,” Latin Instructor Trey Suddarth said.
Now in its third year, the program was created at the request of Headmaster Pete Sanders. Students must meet eligibility and completion requirements, including recognition in the National Junior Classical League Latin Honor Society, completion of The Open University’s
Getting Started on Ancient Greek online course, and participation in the National Greek Exam. The projects must relate to classical antiquity, represent independent design (not merely a research paper), and include a 30-minute oral presentation in front of faculty and peers.
Following are the projects undertaken by this year’s scholars, who received certificates, medallions, and laurel crowns in honor of their achievement.
