Quiz Bowl Team Headed to Nationals

With its strong finish at Ole Miss Brain Brawl, the Memphis University School quiz bowl team proved themselves worthy to play on a national stage.
On Friday, May 22, the team will travel to Atlanta for the 320-team National Academic Quiz Tournaments' High School National Championship Tournament.

Coached by Spanish Instructor Ken Stacey and Math Instructor Darin Clifft, the team will be captained by Joshua Gramm ’26, who will be joined by Bill Chiang ’26, Krish Agrawal ’27, Harrison Evers ’28, Stephen Mangin ’28, Courtland Morris ’28, and Kushal Das ’29.

Quiz bowl is a competitive, academic, interscholastic activity for teams of four students. The teams use buzzers to answer questions about science, math, history, literature, mythology, geography, social science, current events, sports, and popular culture. The matches feature a blend of individual competition and team collaboration, since no individual player is likely to be an expert in all subject areas. Participation in quiz bowl reinforces lessons from the classroom and encourages players to develop new intellectual interests.

Tournament results will be updated throughout the three days of competition HERE.
