Zhao Wins Award in Translation Exam

Latin III student Joseph Zhao ’28 won a cash award in the intermediate Secondary Division of the 2026 Classical Association of the Middle West and South International Latin Translation Exam.
Zhao’s score placed him among the top 5% of students and earned him the cash prize. The next 5% of entrants win book prizes, and the next 10% receive certificates of commendation.

“The CAMWS region covers 32 states and three Canadian provinces, so winning an award in this competition is a tremendous achievement,” Classical and Modern Languages Chair Ryan Sellers said. “Moreover, the average scores (22% and 25% for Intermediate and Advanced, respectively) indicate the level of difficulty of this year's selected passages.”
